Ever thought about selling your artwork online? 🤑This episode is for you!

Especially if you are just starting to think about monetizing your artwork, opening an online shop is a great way to ease into the whole business of selling art, without too much in the way of startup costs.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • the two main kinds of shops (marketplace vs personal)

  • how to start an online shop

  • what types of products to sell (for the record, we would totally buy a beer koozie with a Will Terry image on it 😂)

  • the importance of branding your shop

  • tips for fulfilling orders and cutting down on shipping costs

  • and more!

Jake, Will and Lee all have online shops, so the information they share comes from straight from the horse’s mouth.🐴

Before you tune in, keep in mind that there are two main types of shops: marketplace and personal. Marketplace shops are housed on websites like Amazon or Etsy or Society6, where multiple businesses can sell their products to customers under the umbrella of a single website. Personal shops are usually housed on the dedicated website of a business or individual.

There are pros and cons to each, which Jake, Will and Lee dig into in this episode. Here’s some info on their own shops, for reference:

  • Jake Parker. Jake has a personal shop on his own dedicated website. He uses Shopify to power his shop.

  • Will Terry. Will has a marketplace shop on Etsy.

  • Lee White. Lee has both a marketplace shop on Etsy, and a personal shop on his own dedicated website. He uses Squarespace to power his personal shop.
